A sunny day at the stall at Frau Gerold's Garten Designmarkt, showing off some of my latest upcycled pieces and linoprints. I met some really cool neighbors also working in slow fashion under the tent, and during quieter moments it was the perfect excuse to grab an ice cream at Gelateria di Berna.
Spent three Saturdays in December at RAW market, organized by the collective nine2five.ch in Meilen. It was a great occasion to connect with other artists and designers in a really cool setting, built entirely from leftovers from a building site.
My first ever Christmas market stall, in Munich, spending the week with the talented linoprint designer Milie Bidule. It happened in a yurt at the magical Ganswoanders. When I started YELO., having a stall at a Christmas market was a secret wish of mine. Now it's done, and it was a really fun experience with a lot of Glühwein.
I took some second-hand men's shirts and gave them a little twist: cropped them short and opened up the back and sewed in a big playful bow from the leftover fabric.
The name is YELO and reveal combined, revealing a piece again by giving it a modification. There is something satisfying about working on a classic staple like this: it's a blank canvas that allows for so many variations.
The tricky part of upcycling is that every piece is different, but a men's shirt always starts from the same structure, so it lets me streamline the process and repeat it. I also wanted it to stay quick, around two hours to sew, so I could offer it at an affordable price. I'm genuinely excited about men's shirt upcycling, there are so many possibilities that this is a template I will definitely rework again.
Lace was all over Instagram this season. It's a vintage material that traditionally takes a very long time to make by hand, really putting the slow in slow fashion, though most of what's out there today is machine-made polyester to keep it accessible. It's a fun material to try to work into a modern outfit, and that was the starting point for this lace overskirt.
The emphasis here is on versatility: a piece you can mix and match with what you already own to give an outfit a twist.
